Message from the Bailli | Joe Scorgie

Joe Scorgie, Bailli

Thank you to our members for your continued support and membership renewal. Your dues help mentor the next generation of Young Sommeliers and Young Chefs — central to our organization's mission.

The National Jeune Sommelier Competition took place on March 28 at The Ranchmen's Club with five competitors. The overall calibre of our young sommeliers was exceptional and a source of great pride. Junxing (James) Li from Toronto won as National Champion and will represent Canada at the international competition in Båstad, Sweden (October 14–18, 2026).

Our l'Ordre Mondial and Dîner Amical events held March 20–21 at The Malcolm Hotel in Canmore were memorable successes.

Leadership Changes

We welcomed four new officers: Maggie Rigaux (Vice Argentier), Corrine Fiesel (Vice Chargée de Missions), Stas Anikin (Vice Conseiller Gastronomique), and Ryan Woods (Vice Chancelier).

Three dedicated officers retired after a combined 44 years of service: Mel Miners, Susan Bauerfind, and Sean MacDonald. Joe Scorgie is stepping back after 11 years on Council, with a new Bailli to be introduced later.
